About recording with video?

hi everyone.

i was just wondering how everyone is able to record there music direct and still have themselves recorded on camera. are you guys using a special program?

i am hoping to post of some videos of my own but using the zoom hd4z or whatever you call it, recorded the sound horribly. any help will be repped.

most people that i see do it record the song first, doing however many takes it takes for each part etc etc

and then once the song is completely finished, they record themselves playing with the song

then they synch the two up but cut the audio from the camera recording - which all you really need is Movie Maker is you're not trying to be complex with the video


or you could put yourself on camera as you record the song in one take and then sync them up the same way, and that way the video is the same as the audio, still

ah i see.

i was hoping for some magic program that did it all, but figures you have to sync it.
i was planning on doing that but was too lazy to do so. thanks again

The easiest way to sync it I've found is to put in a count in... and hit some dead notes along with the last two beats of the count in. That way you can start by lining up the audio of the video to the audio of those two clicks

It just stops you from having to make a clap when you've already recorded the song.

Also, doing solos as an actual recording can look really cool as well.
