PRS | Axe-FX ultra | Tone test

So yeah...

I went to one of the local music shops yesterday and could not resist but grab my first PRS SE custom 24 25th anniversary. ( NGD thread will be up prolly tomorrow :P )

I already own a Carvin DC727 which is my main guitar and the one I use in my band but I wanted a new 6 string since I had sold my DC127 few months ago.

I tried the SE through my usual/official rhythm patch on my ultra and god I was blown away by this thing!

So yeah feel free to let me know what you think of the tone.

I personally, think I have come across what I was looking for in terms of the tone I wanted.

That was really cool man, I'd love to hear that in a really thick, deep mix.

Loved the centre channel bit.

How are you 'glitching' (god, I'm sick of the word glitch) it, just with a sample editor or are you using a VST?

Thanks guys truly appreciate it.

In fact, the whole point of this preset is to really give place to other instruments in the mix in order for each one of them to kind of complete the other. I am using this patch in my band at rehearsals and it does the job amazingly! Our live mix sounds soooo much better and the guitar really cuts in! Our bassist uses a fretless too so it helps getting the bass to really stand out.

I can give you a real brief example of how the tone really gets bassier when some drums are laid down over it. I made a quick clip with my Carvin DC727 using the same patch but with drums. Unfortunately, no bass in this clip...

haha glad to hear you liked the center bit as you mentioned. :P I just wanted something pretty simple that would make the little mix much more fuller.

As for the glitching type of thing, I actually all did it by hand. (which is always what I do)
I usually, set my grid to higher time signatures so that I can really cut little sections of the end of the part desired and then place those little cuts directly in the grid at desired times. (all by hand)

Longer but I really love the result.

Tone sounds really good. It's got just the right amount of gain for that style. Also, I approve of your username on SoundCloud.

Thank you really much mate.
Took me a bit of time to really clean-up my playing to suit the tone but I am really satisfied now.
Lesser gain = less camo for mistakes while playing = must play cleaner.

Haha! Yeah well, my good friends said the word described me pretty well so I just used it.
