Oceano Mix test (POD, SD2.2, Slate, Agile)
Hey guys, I've been trying out some new things in my mixes, and here's what I came up with. The only things I'm real unhappy about is the bass and snare, but I didn't have a good bass to actually work with and in the beginning the snare is just way too dominant, but fine for the rest of the time. Any critique is appreciated!

On the snare or drum bus? They're both set to only about 11%

How much do you usually put on your snare and drum bus then?

I agree. Too much reverb. You need more of a room reverb as opposed to a hall reverb. The drums lose the punch and clarity when you drown them in reverb so don't be afraid to dry it up.

Alright, I changed it to a room reverb and took it down to about 5% mix. any comments on the guitars or bass?

maybe play with the velocities of the drums and put less delay on the guitar at 1:00. the guitar tone sounds good. which pod are you using?

I'm using pod farm, the cali diamond plate model. And you're probably right, I definitely should've gone through and randomized the velocities a little bit. And I'm using the presonus audiobox for my interface, and I've noticed it always clips on input when I have a guitar or bass directly into it. If I put a DI box between the interface and my guitar or bass, would this keep it from clipping?
