Controlling Drums using MIDI from Guitar Pro?
Anyone doing this? This works for my synths but not for drums
![]() I've been trying to get it to work with Blue Noise/Reaper and no luck. At the moment what I'm doing is: 1. Delete all tracks in gp6 other than drums 2. Export MIDI file 3. Put MIDI file in reaper 4. Add the BlueNoise VSTi This is exactly what I do for synths except I'd delete everything but the synths. Anybody have any idea how to make this work? |

Step One - Delete all MIDI drum mapping software.
Step Two - Employ local session drummer. Step Three - Groove. BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA |

3 posts in and the negative feedback has started already. Invision Boards FTMFW.
As a drummer and sound engineer, I insist you start using real drummers/drums for the sake of the music indutry and musical integrity of your project. Plus, we sound better. BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA |

I can tell you know Stitch because you give almost just as much redundant advice. If I had the capacity and $$$ to be mic'ing up drums I probably would be

I do this with Superior and it works quite well. I've never actually heard of blue noise, so I cant really offer any good advice on that.

I have a friend just like you. How is it laziness? Please elaborate instead of being rude and calling someone lazy.

It is lazyness to program a drum machine to do something a working drummer in the industry can do. Providing you are not a thief and bought your equipment, it would actually cost you less money to go to a local studio and pay for a few hours time to record a real session drummer play the parts you'd like. This would take a little more time and involve effort, hence - you are lazy. Drum machines are the reason the metal community is suffering with "djent" and "deathcore" bands who record at 300 and can't hack it live. I'm not saying this is what you're doing, but it's still lazy. BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA BRRDA |

It isn't lazy to demo songs with programmed drums if you don't have access to a real drummer/ability to mic a kit well, it's simply efficient. Sure, it might be cheaper to do a one off recording with a session drummer compared to buying something like EZDrummer or SD2, but what about 10 recordings? 20? At what point does it become more efficient and cost effective to use sampled drums? It sounds to me like you've got some fear of being considered redundant, and you're taking it out on someone who simply wanted advice on setting up his software. Also, piracy isn't theft. |

Utter FACEPALM material.
I dig your clique, honest - I really do. Please remember you're speaking to someone who actively works in the industry as a drummer, engineer and lecturer before defining your internet balls with a flame-war. I thought guitarists in the studio were assholes, the internet takes it to a whole new level!

lol 22 replies and no one answered the question or even came close.
Anyways it should be quite straight forward, just export the midi file, load in your DAW as a midi track, route the output to whatever VST you're using. You might need to check the midi event list and delete anything other than the notes. That might be screwing things up. Also try changing velocities and stuff. If you're talking about triggering the drums directly from guitar pro, its possible too. You'll need: an internal Midi cable thingy (Midi Yoke) Guitar Pro your drums VST (for my case I use the superior standalone) 1) in guitar pro 5 check your instrument properties and make sure to use MIDI and not RSE 2) Go to options in GP5 and click audio settings 3) Under midi devices in the port 2 row, output it to Midi Yoke # (where # is whatever number you want) 4) Go into your DAW/SD standalone and change the Midi input to Midi Yoke # where you've set previously 5) Press play and drums should be triggered by the midi notes in GP5 thought that I'll just share this
