Veil of Maya Inspired w/ xylophone (Logic 9/POD UX2/The Metal Foundry)
I tracked this last night, and mixed it this morning. Just looking for some criticism on my rushed mix, and how to improve it.
Edit: See post 8 for final mix. <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="never" allownetworking="internal" data="http://www.soundclick.com/player/V2/mp3player.swf" height="60" width="473"> </object> <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="never" allownetworking="internal" data="http://www.soundclick.com/player/V2/mp3player200.swf" height="60" width="200"> </object> |

Re: Veil of Maya Inspired w/ xylophone (Logic 9/POD UX2/The Metal Foundry)
I'm a fan of a little more grit in the guitars, but the tone you've got works really well for what you're playing.
I shouldn't even comment on the mix, since I'm listening with beyond horrible speakers, but maybe bring the kick up a tad? Maybe someone will chime in and tell me to shut up ![]() And the xylophone is absolutely PERFECT! Liberty has never come from the government. Liberty has always come from the subjects of it. The history of liberty is a history of resistance. - Woodrow Wilson

Awesome stuff mate.
I think the kick drum is fine. It could some more low end though. Demos from my upcoming work called "Spectrum": http://soundcloud.com/jerradwilliams/sets/new-demos/%22 My Tumblr: http://jerradwilliams.tumblr.com/ |

Re: Veil of Maya Inspired w/ xylophone (Logic 9/POD UX2/The Metal Foundry)
Sounds really good man.
![]() Personally I would Eq and shape the tone of the guitars a little more to help it sit in the mix a little better. Another suggestion, it's really tight, but if you want to make it a little tighter, send the outputs of the kicks (and whatever else from the drums you want to a bus) And set up a Gate on the guitars with the bus that your using for the kicks & other drums with a relativley high threshold so that way the guitars get that extra cut/tightness to them. Overall good mix. Maybe bring the xylophone up a bit in the mix. ![]() ![]() ![]() Edit: I meant to tell you that you have to sidechain in the gate. Sorry about that |

badass dude, definitely tight sounding. Definitely sounds like you were going from the production on the new VOM cd rather than the old one
cool track though

Alright, final tweak! Haha. Completely forgot I downloaded the Sperimental impulse pack this week. So, I threw those on there.

I agree that your tone's even better than Marc's. It sounds very similar, but your's is warmer. Also, your palm mute's are clearer.
I can tell it's very VoM inspired, but you have your own style to it and I can't imagine them doing any clean riffs. So thumbs up on that one! ![]() I absolutely love the xylophone by the way. |

Changed the snare sample, and a few minor tweaks.

i came.
my only critique is that the snare has more high end on it that it needs, might want to sort that out. the playing is VERY clean, the track's GREAT, i love it. keep up the great work. it sounds to me like the guitar panned right is way louder than the guitar panned left...but no one else has commented on/noticed that.. oh well, if it were me, I would level out the volumes. the song is BADASS though man...seriously, very very good.
