I could sure use your ears ;)(TSE, Slate, new everything)
Ok, so, ground up mix again. Really need some feedback! I dont like the snare that much, or the drums in general. Any comments or help would be appreciated! I have been really working on my bass tone for this too. Trying to mix "properly" lol as in mixing drums first, then making the kick and bass gel, then the guitars. Tell me how i did
![]() http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2255790/metal%20Xample.mp3 btw its sloppy, but you get the idea

listening on monitors:
The drums are too loud. The drums sound fine, they're SS samples... it would be hard to go wrong. The guitars sound pretty good. Sounds like you used a plug in. |

I don't know if it's just on my end, but the guitar tracks coming out of my right speaker seem noticeably louder than the ones coming out of the left.

Are the Steven slate drums worth it?
Cuz i cant find them on a torrent. I have the metal foundry, but Steven slate drums seem like they're ready to go with very little tweaking needed. |

Cynic: Thanks man!!!
spattergrind: slate drums are most deffinatly worth it. I bought mine through the audiomidi no brainer deal a while back for $20 although i think new they are $99. Still worth it. It doesnt take too much processing, no, but when going for a certain sound it can be a bit trying. Oh and the cymbals in the Slate EX are not very good. I like the bells and splash and china, but the rest are not great. You already have metal foundry though so you could just use the cymbals from there. manana: It is a free impulse called s-pres hi. Do a little searching and you should find it with ease. Great impulse, but kind of overused. Meh, oh well. Any other takers? ![]() edit: update, now longer, but needs more editing haha. Obvious mistakes in here lol http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2255790/meta...2%20longer.mp3 www.myspace.com/cchugga - latest metal songs www.myspace.com/youpeoplemusic - Rap side project ![]() www.soundclick.com/mattdempsey - older recordings |

Sure spreshigh is overused. But it has to be the best impulse ever made. I don't use anything else
. I just checked out the latest mix and it's much better. |

I always used 2off-preshigh but s-preshigh is just as good.
The only thing I would say is turn the bass up and the guitars down. The guitars sound ....ing incredible, I'd be really interested to hear them solo'd. |

can you please describe your method of programming drums? midi keyboard, piano roll, etcc? also, what post processing are you using on the guitars besides TSE-X30 and the impulse?

WookieSlayer: Thanks dude! and im just using voxengo boogex. Simple, yet effective haha.
RawrItsRaptor: I used to use guitar pro for drums, but i have started using the midi editor in Reaper. It's getting easier and i like it better although i thought i would never like it. And on the guitars i only have 2 eqs aside from the TSE and impulse. I have one voxengo curve eq with a Engl spectrum that i picked up that doesn't really change much at all, just gets rid of a little mud. The other eq is to help things gel with bass and drums ![]() ryzorzen: Why thank you sir! lol cant say im a fan of the cymbals in general of slate, but i think im going to replace them in later songs

This sounds really great man. Love the playing. I too use the TSE as my primary guitar sound. Really simple and sounds great.
