New track finished

Check out my new track "Metal Object of Desire" on my mypace page (linked in my sig and below) and tell me what you think. No seven-string on this one--just my Charvel 750xl through a PODxt. Also used a Jackson Concert V bass, Bass PODxt and a Boss DR880 drum machine through my new Korg D3200 multitrack recorder.

Myspace

Next up for me is a song that will have tons of seven-string all over it. I started Metal Object a long time ago before I really started playing sevens and finally decided to finish it while I was waiting to get my Carvin 747 back from the repair shop.

That was cool. It sounded pretty epic, like someone was about to march into battle or something.

This is a great song! I love your tone. Some pretty cool phrasing and chops too!

Thanks! The gain tones are mostly the "Mississippi Criminal" model on the expansion pack for the PODxt, though the solo is something else--one I hadn't used in awhile, and I think it's based off the Spinal Puppet model. I probably should have used a little less gain on the rhythm guitars, but I really wanted to avoid having it sound any more '80s than necessary.

Thanks, guys! I'm actually thinking about rerecording the rhythm guitars to get a little more clarity and punchiness. I've got some new gear on the way/in the works that might help me do that. The PODxt gets some good tones, particularly for lead work, but the rhythm guitars just seem a little "two-dimensional," regardless of which amp models I use or how I set the EQ. Wish I had a place where I could mic actual speakers...

About a third of the way in, I totally expected Dickinson to start singing. Iron Maiden gallops!

Nice work. Good to see you pimpin' yourself on MySpace.

BTW, "Lament of the Old Gods" is still one twisted piece. I love it.

Division - American metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on MySpace, and Soundclick, too.

Trust me, you do NOT want to hear my Bruce Dickinson impression.

I procrastinated for a long time on getting the myspace thing going. It kind of caught me unaware--all of a sudden every musician on earth had a myspace page except for me!

I wish that myspace allowed more than four tracks to be posted--otherwise I'd still have "Lament" up there, as well, though you can play it from the embedded player based off of my 'other' page. I've got to do a better remaster on "Lament" and the other tracks that I did a couple of years ago--WAY too bassy. I still hadn't a fucking clue at that point about how to properly EQ rhythm guitars, with the result being that everything goes off the charts at about 100hz.
