Um..I hate to burst your bubble..but it's a little hard to not notice. I hate when people go out of their way to make a point about how it's not about him being black. Of course it is..it isn't the ONLY issue or most important but it's definately something worth noting especially for black people. People piss me off with that "ignoring skin color" thing. He's black..it's what you notice before you notice his policies or anything else, it's the biggest thing that stands out about him and because of that history is being made. Don't get me wrong..I get what you're saying. It shouldn't be the highlight of Obama winning, but it's definately a factor. And I for one get a little tired of constantly hearing various versions (some more "edgy" than others) of it's not about him being black. We all know why among other reasons his win is important and I hate when people try to play that fact down. It should be mentioned. Don't like the fact that people talk about the "black president" fine, just don't refer to him as that, but to others him being black is important.

And by the way, not trying to start anything..but is it really of importance that
D-EJ915 is a more established member than I am? I would think that one would hold everyone on the forum with the same level of regard regardless of whether or not they were liked by the majority of forumites.

Yes, it is of great importance. He's been here for years, made enormous contributions, has helped establish the reputation of this site as the premier 7-string resource, and made our beloved ss.org a little bit better just by his presence. He is essentially a founding member. Without Jeff and the very few like him (and me), there wouldn't even be a ss.org as it exists today.

This is not a free-for-all. Standing and reputation count tremendously.

I do have to say..it kind of sucks in a way because Obama isn't walking into the best of circumstances, and of course all his mistakes will be counted without missing a beat. Especially as the first black president he's already got a lot of shit against him and his 4 years are going to be really rocky. I really hope he handles it all well and I hope he doesn't give the naysayers much to talk about
