Much in the same way I call best friend Frank a Dumbass sometimes, It's candid and doesn't have the same meaning. I wouldn't disrespect my mom. (My dad on the other hand... Well, that's just personal.) In any language that you learn to speak -- love is twisted and defined as weak TheMissing's GAScon status: GAScon 3... New geetar... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I believe in God. I also believe the Earth is round. Really, when you get down to it, I don't have any more to go on with the latter point than the former. After all, the only proof I have that the Earth is round is what people such as scientists and professors tell me which I accept in good faith, plus the occasional picture. After all, who knows, there may be some grand conspiracy where someone is making a crapload of money by falsely convincing people that the world is round, when it's actually flat. But despite that, I still believe the world is round. Granted, no one has ever photographed God, but somehow I think even if God were to be proven to exist, we still wouldn't be able to. But the inevitable failing of science is the same is that of most religion. Someone tells us something, they tell us why they think so, and we choose whether to believe it or not. Some people claim pomegranates are some sort of miracle health fruit. They have boatloads to say, but really, barring the possibility of doing a whole crapload of tests myself over time, I simply choose to believe it or not. I'm a person who can admit the fault of religion, despite the fact that I follow a certain faith. My point, however, is that believing what so-called scientists say is as much an act of faith as believing what a holy book says. In order to believe either, you must first believe that they're telling you something without an agenda of their own, or that if they do have agenda, they're not going so far as to alter their message to sway you into their train of thought. But unless you do all the required tests for yourself, you never actually have conclusive proof, you simply have the belief that someone else does. |

I wonder how such conspiracy theorists explain off people who have flown in a perfect circle around the world (such as myself). That they're lying and that they actually saw the edge of the world and made a promise with "the government" (the secret world government) not to tell anyone that the world is really flat and that the sun and planets actually revolve around the Earth? I also fail to see how this has anything to do with the uninformed nonsense TheMissing's mother expressed. Relevence? | |
