The Civil War was the dividing line between a voluntary union of independent states, and a strong central government that forces their collective will upon the states. The system of government that the framers envisioned died that decade. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm still trying to get a concrete reason out of my parents why they're going to vote for Mccain. The most I got out of my dad was "they don't do what they say", which granted is true for some politicians, but I think it shows a lot of the disenfranchisement that people have. Not that my parents care about politics though ![]() |

![]() this is what happens when people start giving up liberty for security. they get eased into a state where they start believing what others tell them, and stop thinking for themselves. as it's been said, those who give up liberty for security deserve neither. noodles- "Ohio: It's Not Like We're Iowa"

For example, lots of people think George Bush is a Texan. When in fact he was born in Connecticut and went to Ivy Legaue schools. But the bullshit was spread so thick and so few people fact check anything , including and most frustratingly the media, that shit like that lives. Just like Obama is a Muslim. As someone who has dealt with these people on a regualr basis the best tactic is to stick to the facts and remain calm. Once you get into a shouting match filled with innusendo and bullshit it's all over. You might as well be yelling apple pie recipes at each other. In so far as agnostics go I have no problem with them. At least they know they might be wrong. I'm a practicing Catholic and I'll admit I could be wrong. I have no proof only faith and that doesn't make for a really good argument but this is the choice I have made and I'm happy with it. As long as you're open to ideas and don't look down on others ideas it's all good. This is my main complaint with a lot of atheists and fundamentalists. They presume correctness and everyone else just sucks. It's a dangerous place to put yourself. I have learned to divied the world up much as Arlo Guthrie did into two camps. Those who give a damn and those who don't. The only proof he needed for the existance of God was music. Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Without music, life would be a mistake. Friedrich Nietzsche |

This is the problem with democracy at such a large scale. The majority deserves the government that they get, but the minority gets stuck with it, too.

, but I've never seen an atheist try to save anybody. I've only seen atheists in "presume correctness and everyone else just sucks" mode in response to Christians trying to force their view upon others and/or justify their self-absorbed actions through religion.Ray The Ultimate Question: What string gauge is needed for 18.84# of tension when tuned to E2 on a 27" scale guitar? ![]()
