For that matter some sections of Western society are no better today, the porn industry is a classic example. American Pornography is at times Especially bad (though you could easily argue all porn is, but we will side step that one for now).
In many senses that’s rape for Pay if you look at how much (or How little) many of women involved enjoy the experience. Not to mention the coercion involved...

I think people try and palm to much of this kind of thing off on 'cultural differences' and fail too look at the realities in their own culture.

My only point, though, Nick, is that what constitutes an "adult" and what constitutes a "kid" is culturally defined. In the culture at hand, this is consentual sex between adults. In yours, it is not.

If you're upset about anything, then take up the question of adulthood in this culture, and don't just fall back on simple rage about yuour cultural norms not matching up with theirs.

That's right. And we should just invade and take over the country. And Pol Pot was correct in stamping out 8 million of his own people people because they were obviously barbaric. And Stalin was correct in stamping-out 25 million barbaric Soviets.
