i hate stupid activist groups when they go mental from stuff they don´t know about. some misguided shit has an opinion that isn´t actually correct, and pushes it on other people, who then carry on this misguided crap, believing it to be true... and if you don´t have dirt on something, but you don´t like it, make up random bullshit facts about it!

I believe this is an old story as I remember hearing it quite some time ago. I believe Penn & Teller covered it to some degree in their episode of BS on PETA.

PETA has long had a reputation as being a bunch of radical twits.

As for Greenpeace I think they started out well but I believe it was one of their founding members who has now parted ways with the organization that stated the whole initiative was "hijacked".

This is what tends to happen with many a good initiative. It starts out for all the right reasons but somewhere along the line too many crazies jump on board and, as a great man once said "you can't fix stupid".

and while that woman is very likely insane, i think to some degree i can sympathize with being against having children and comparing it to buying purebred dogs.
I think it's purely ego (not meant as an offensive term in and of itself) that would make a person want to have children that are of their own blood when there are thousands of deprived children who could use a good home.
I think its terrible that people are paying hundreds of dollars to breeders to raise dogs to a certain standard when there are thousands (or millions?) of wonderful animals with quality and character in shelters everywhere that need to homes and would otherwise be killed.

i guess my point is - just because people can be pieces of shit, don't let that taint your view of animal rights and people who care about animals.

It costs $50 to adopt a cat or dog, it costs tens of thousands of dollars, in some cases, to adopt a child. Don't try to fucking compare them.

Agreed. I want kids of my own someday. I can understand why some people would feel too morally convicted to have their own kids, but I'm not one of them. And of course, there are other reasons (I have a childhood friend who was adopted, the adopted parents didn't want to have kids because the father was at high risk of developing Huntington's syndrome, and if he had, the child would have also been at high risk, and they didn't want to go through that), but they don't apply to me either. Just because someone that I've never met was too dumb to control his sexual urges and have children that he shouldn't have had, doesn't mean I should be forced to counterbalance his mistakes and never have my own.
