![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 87,000 PA republicans switch to Democrats Voters switch parties to help McCain - Evening Sun ABC News: PA.: Home of the Most Party-Switchers? People are saying it is so they can help Hillary win the state and then later during the election vote for McCain (some polls show McCain could beat Clinton) Im a Republican but there is no way I would meddle around in the Dems selection process. This is pretty sad . I'm sure quite a few people actually prefer Clinton or Obama to McCain but this is going to make the election a bit of a cluster Fuck (tho looking at the last couple of years is this really surprising?) this space for rent |

If you are registered as an Independent in PA you cannot vote in Primary election (very lame also). I think the whole primary system is pretty broken (look at Florida and Michigan) Very Lame all the way around But I have No Idea for a better system - what we have now is too freaking entrenched and people in both parties fear changing anything. | |

Which if the economy keeps getting worse and the Iraq War gets more violent is pretty likely. The only proof he needed for the existance of God was music. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Actually, an Iraq war flare-up could work in McCain's favor if he sticks to his guns. It's absolute crap, but there's not much we as democrats can do since there's no way of proving that at the time they didn't fully intend to vote as democrats in the 2008 election. Still, if this is known to the DNC crowd (which it is), it makes it that much harder for Clinton to broker a deal to take the nomination - she may win Pennsylvania, but if her margin is even close to the estimated number of, say, turncoat Republicans, then her argument that winning Pennsylvania is important because it shows she can win big states and important contests becomes pretty empty, and an attempt to sway superdelegates becomes that much harder. Anyway, this happened in Texas and Ohio already. Arguably, this cost Obama Texas, as hilalry's final lead wasn't very big at all. If Iraq gets worse and it actually gets back in the news I really think people will vote for a change in direction with Iraq over the status quo. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I dont think there wil be a total withdrawal of troops from iraq - We still have troops in every country we have fought a war in except Vietnam (Going back to the Spanish American War). (Guam, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Italy, Pureto Rico, Cuba, etc etc) I think Iraq will be a much smaller issue come election day than the Economy, the mortgage/credit crisis and the price of gas... All of those things effect everyone. For many people if they dont have anyone they care about involved in Iraq then it is a non issue. |

The problem there is the Iraqi war will be vying for attention with our national economic meltdown. I'm not sure how this will impact the election. On some level, it might be a blessing if a Republican actually won the White House. The coming depression could be the final nail in the coffin on the illusion of modern GOP "fiscal responsibility." |
