expecting muslims to not show their face is a bit oldschool considering that only a minority of them really covers their face. and like dating it is more of a cultural thing rather than religious, muslims in industrial countries drink and date just like anyone else here and there. then there are girls who are so devout that they think they better just cover the whole thing and feel good about it, just like some christians won't eat without saying prayer cus they really want to express gratitute. no religion is more fundementalist than any other, its just more fundamentalists in some

the quran doesnt say that women should cover their face, they are supposed to cover their hair and figures tho, to not provoke men with their hawt looks. you can read this and think that showing a hawt face is also provoking so you better not do that either, while one quran verse explains that the only occasion you must cover your face is in the presence of royalty to show rank, since royalty women don't cover their face. modern chicks can just pick the latter one and be good muslims, as the bible is equally contradictive, a christian can choose to love all god's creations as a more modern alternative to stoning all heathens

alot of christian stuff seem equally weird to non-christians, like when you stand in front of a blabbering dude in a ritual eating a dead guy's body and drinking his blood to supposedly have this dead guy who resurrects himself since he is three entitys (including his own dad) at the same time, inside you try explaining that to a muslim i guess you could work your way around it to make it seem less weird, like they probably could if they gave a hoot

and yea christianity is the largest one incl. all denominations as one, while islam is the fastest growing one.

First off, the people around here who post "blatant bigotry towards Muslims all the time" are usually the same folks who have the same views on ALL organized religions. Personally, I spend MORE time dragging evangelical Christians through the mud than Muslims. Secondly, the focus seems to be on radical middle eastern Muslims (specifically Taliban), and not on Muslims world wide. Finally, anyone secure in their faith should be able to take a joke, secure in their knowledge that they will be the one with the last laugh when we are all dead.

I agree that it's easy to get defensive if someone questions your beliefs, but can't help but wonder how people would feel about noodles' post if it featured black or Jewish stereotypes?

Race is something you are born with. There is no changing the color of your skin or features of your face, unless you undergo extensive, expensive and painful plastic surgery.

Religion is a choice. Sure, you may be a product of your environment, but it is something you can change. I wasn't raised an atheist. I made a conscious decision to abandon my Christian upbringing.

Comparing the two is insulting to anyone who sufferers racial persecution. I am not persecuting the religious: I am pointing out the hypocrisy in their beliefs, and will vigorously attack anyone (like evangelical Christians) who hold up the progress of science, try to dictate morality, or influence what my children learn in school.

IMO the whole burka thing just makes Islam a really easy target. It's fun enough to make fun of Christians, but they don't exactly have anything in the Bible (regardless of whether they'd follow it or not) so lulzy. Well maybe the ban on shaving and tattoos, but even that isn't so easy to see.

I'd make fun of orthodox Jews for looking like bearded gangsters all the time too if I saw it very often.
