LOL...OK, haven't been on since I posted above yesterday. I realized that I was saying "you"...but I wasn't referring to JY in the strictest sense.

I know you guys like to paint anyone with a religious inkling as a right-wing nutsack. There are plenty of those out there, but I think that you guys use way too broad a brush, generally speaking. There are plenty of us 'live and let live' types out there.

My point was that these fine Muslim folk *cough* so completely twist the tenets of their own religion that they deem so important as to render it unrecognizable.

Ah, fuck it.....I'm just an infidel.

JJ's right, let's just leave and let them kill each other.

In general, I think Muslims do the least twisting.

i just, wholeheartedly & completely, 150% disagree with that idea.

there will always be an agenda on both sides. ergo there will always be an attempt at justifying a gross act of wrong by either side due to either a current, recent or historic insult.

were we, hyopthetically, to eradicate all wrongs that have occurred to and from either religion / culture, one would doubtless shortly reference back to the sins of the crusades or some such he said / she said.

all this rubbishing of everything religious has its place in here, a discussion forum, but please - as an atheist myself, can others please understand that if you push hard enough on any side (including your own) you start to become fundamentalist yourself.

i believe that religion is mythical bullshit, but that's my belief. i can't actually prove that oxygen is what we're breathing or that it's what fuels the flame i'll use to highlight my point any further than how i've been told to show someone since i was a child. that, ladies & gentlemen, is a system of faith. it's just that currently, until 'science' is proven wrong, it's the most credible basis available on a logical level. it is not infallible and it doesn't make you right, it just means you're easier to believe.

the world will not suddenly see the light and renounce its gods. it will diversify and evolve, much as it always has. people will find new reasons to kill eachother because, essentially and unfortunately, it's quickening, sickeningly fun and satisfies a primal need that most humans still have. kids will always die in africa because it's hot etc etc - it's just that you've got better abilities to witness it now.

yes, it's tragic that this chap got shot. no, i'm not going to be bothered by it any more than the next video on steakandcheese.com because people are cunts, the loudest of which appear to be ones supporting their own private fairytale. westerners were in the wrong place at the wrong time, just as i wouldn't go into the middle of a hackney wick estate and start suggesting that enoch powell had a point and that everyone needed to see it my way.

I guess people seem to forget that about 100 people die every day in Iraq or something?

Jason was right actually and I'm surprised no one else picked up on what he said.
