You mean that they'll have to go to court and get permission? Isn't that the way the system of checks and balances is supposed to work?

Intelligence officials said that it will cause unnecessary delays, but the government will be able to get permission to conduct eavesdropping through the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.

Even without court permission, agents also can listen in on a suspect's calls without a warrant as long as an application is submitted within three days.

You mean you can still do it, as long as you submit the request within three days? I fail to see how this will case delays.

But they really didn't. The Senate (also with a Blue-flavored Republicrat majority) approved the bill, along with the provision that granted immunity to the phone companies that did the actual 4th Amendment violating by performed the warrant-less wiretaps.

At least the House made an attempt to protect some of our Civil Rights.
