And BTW, I hate the way Cheney presents his statements. Always, always as if they're are so patently obvious, so true, you'd have to be an utter fool not to see it.

I really wish someone would use some weapons of mass destruction against Cheney, his friends, and his allies. Bush may will be a complete idiot, but Cheney is a monster who uses lies and intimidation to get his way. The guy learned the no ethics thing from Nixon, and he took a lot of notes

You know I like to bash the administration as much as the next guy but this story is just rhetoric in my opinion.

Stating that there were 935 false statements made in retrospect is a pretty empty charge. Granted, Cheney is an @sshat for making statements such as "there can be no doubt" but making "false" statements insinuates that you know the "truth" to begin with.

Journalism and the people would be better served by uncovering the incredible stupidity that surrounds the administrations argument regarding "the intelligence we had at the time". How much TRUTH was there to those statements? We can make the assumption that leaders making such crucial decisions should have greater confidence than what has been demonstrated. Searching a database is pretty lame. We need some dogged journalist to dig deep enough to find out if these jackasses were REALLY lying or just incompetent.

Neither is very comforting but one is prosecutable.

Since he is limited to just eight years, and doesn't have absolute power, he can't be the worst leader ever. At that point, you're disqualifying guys like Tiberius Caesar and King Henry VIII. Even then, those two pale in comparison to a Joseph Stalin or Adolph Hitler.

Bush isn't even the worst leader of today. Kim Jong-il is far worse. Worst American president, though? Most definitely.

While that's true to an extent, the consensus at this point is that BushCo was stating that there was incontrovertable evidence that Iraq had WMD's and was prepared to use them, while all CIA papers were saying the reverse, that more likely than not Iraq did NOT have WMD's nor did they have a delivery capability that could target the United States, and that the administration was cherry picking the reports to support their conclusions, oftentimes using "evidence" that the reports had categorically dismissed or discounted.

In short, there's certainly grounds for prosecution here, in that the claims BushCo was making flew entirely at odds to the carefully researched opinions of America's Central Intelligence Agency, and Bush and his advisors knew that.

Jong-il is a useless little toad and all. But Bush has one almost unforgivable strike against him. In the aftermath of 9/11 he had a truly united USA and a world that was eager and willing to help. He dropped the ball big time. He could have changed the world for the better and he fucked it up royally. At least N Korea's pint sized ass hat doesn't hide his evil. Bush wants to pretend he's doing the right thing.
