That is a brilliant way of scoping the problem. It won't fix anything, but it puts it in terms everyone can understand, and no one can argue really.

Reading articles like this makes me want to go on a safari in Africa, trek through the Amazon, and visit the Arctic just because these natural wonders are going to disappear at the rate things are going now.

I like putting a dolar amount on these things, because it finally expresses it in a way that the common idiot--or someone dumber, like a Republican--can understand. I'd like to ask George Bush what he would do if another country caused $1,800,000,000,000 worth of damage to our country. He'd probably go on about keeping our great nation safe, and retaliating against those responsible. Then just drop a, "So, if you were the leader of Bolivia, you would back a coalition of willing nations in a joint attack on United states for the trillions of dollars of environmental damage they have caused to your country and the countries of the coalition?" and watch his head reboot.
