Yes, it wasn't originally his fuckup, but he did continue it while saying that he would end it. That's two counts of lying and one count of screwing people over unnecessarily. I don't like Kennedy or LBJ much either, but you can't blame Nixon's fuckups on anyone else either.

Still, I agree that the Democrats are spineless. All they had to do was not give Bush what he wanted. After their initial defense spending bill was vetoed, they simply should have tabled it and waited. It is hard to fight a war without funding. Congress cared more about how they would look in front of the American public, rather than making the right decision to force the insanity to stop.

The intervention in South Korea was succesful. It achieved its strategic established goal, that of the prevention of the spread of communism and spread the of soviet influence. It also the positive side effect of getting Japan out of economic recession and helping them their production togheter. Kinda like an Asian Marshall plan kinda thing. Lots of war supplies were made and shipped from Japan, Japanesse and American economies were helped in the long run by the war. It moreover solidified American-Japanese relations post WWII, and Japan helped America economically by buying at times 'unwanted' dollars to keep the dollar up and save the American economy. Furthermore, it allowed America to have bases in the ass of the Chinese and Russians in South Korea, and Japan.
Containment and NSC68 were succesful foreign policies, until stupid fucks like Kennedy and Reagan fucked them up with idealistic and short sighted interventions.
