"these people" is a pretty blanket statement. as is the case with most instances (this event in China, the raped woman in Iraq), we're talking about a corrupt government putting the squeeze on it's people, who are most likely just a billion people like us, trying to live a comfortable life. don't let a few bad apples sour your view on the whole of humanity

Eh, it's a little deeper than that, Leon. Chinese culture has put a strong emphasis on delivering the proverbial goods, so to speak, and the belief that the ends justify the means is pretty widespread in Chinese business. This is just bar-none the most appalling example I've ever heard.

Ok so we won't trade with Cuba because they're supposedly evil. OK they are good enough to leave a naval base there but I digress. Yet we borrow money and trade billions of dollars worth of unsafe shit for our kids with China?

This is sickening and heart breaking. China is capitalism gone horribly wrong. When the free market is given absolute freedom you get this and lead paint and the date rape drug in toys.

I'm with Leon though in that I will not blame the Chinese people. I will only blame those who are oppresive and whose greed has caused these sinister actions. China might have a free market but that's about where the freedom stops in China.
