I could just imagine if they tried this kind of shit in New Brunswick with all the frenchies. I sit in a government office, and basically you can't get a government job UNLESS you can speak french these days. All I hear all day is people talking french I could see being required to speak English for safety reasons like someone said, like if you work in an industrial environment, and some shit is about to explode, and someone starts screaming in Spanish to run away and you have no clue what they're talking about... But other than shit like that I have no idea why this is a good idea for them If they're dealing with people in their job, they're most likely going to speak English anyways to a customer first unless they "look" like they speak Spanish If it's around an office, I imagine they know who speaks Spanish and who doesn't. I suppose it just gives them an excuse to discriminate against people who can't speak English that well.

i dont actually see a problem with this why should an employer not be allowed to say who they want to employ?

When i call out to one of our branches and i get someone who can hardly speak english it causes problems in communication and when its involving peoples money its a serious issue.

If people want to live in a country where the language is english why shouldnt they speak english??

Canada is a poor example because there is a fairly massive French speaking population and they are centrally located. There arent areas like that in america where nearly eveyone speaks a different language, at least not any areas iv ever heard of?

I remember some thread where they said southern Texas was basically northern Mexico or some shit I'm sure in some areas there's large groups of people who don't speak English as a first language.

Like JJ said, the whole south and southwest has huge swathes of Spanish and Portuguese speaking immigrants.
