| More than likely, he will be paroled early. Turning himself in early to begin serving his sentance reflects well on him. However, even if he is paroled early, he will immediately begin serving whatever sentance the state of Virginia hands down to him. His conviction at the federal level almost assures his conviction at the state level. In the end, though, it doesn't matter. He will never play pro football again. All of his endorsers have dropped him. The Falcons are working to recoup his bonuses of his $130 million contract, and the paychecks have stopped coming in. Several banks are suing him to recoup his loans, and his Virginia home is being auctioned off. Michael Vick will one day get out of prison, with hardly a cent to his name, and have to spend the rest of his life as a working stiff. He will never go far with a felony criminal record. Once a rich athlete in the prime of his career, he will fade into the obscurity of just another lower income man struggling to get by. I can think of no greater punishment than this. Why let him rot in prison when the realities of his life are so much more punishing? |
