Bush: Congress is not getting its work done - CNN.com

President Bush blasted the Democratic-controlled Congress on Tuesday for having "the worst record in 20 years."

Says the worst president in the history of our country. I'd make a pot/kettle reference here, but I really couldn't find a clever way to work a black hole into the punchline.

"Congress is not getting it's work done," Bush said, flanked by members of the Republican House leadership. "The House of Representatives has wasted valuable time on a constant stream of investigations, and the Senate has wasted valuable time on an endless series of failed votes to pull our troops out of Iraq."

The first attempt at Congressional oversight in five years, coupled with a Democratic leadership that is beating themselves senseless against a wall of filibustering Republicans is considered not getting work done? Have you seen the polls lately, asshole? I'm sorry, you must have been too busy ruining our national reputation and driving the military into the dirt to notice something as paltry as the opinion of the people that vote in elections.

Bush criticized Congress for not being able to send "a single appropriations bill" to him.

"They haven't seen a bill they could not solve without shoving a tax hike into it," he said.

Borrowing money, that doesn't appear in the budget, from China to fund a war that over two thirds of the country wants to end is completely acceptable, though.

Democrats quickly fired back. Jim Manley, senior aide to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, said, "Taking advice from President Bush about fiscal responsibility and getting things done for the American people is like taking hunting lessons from Dick Cheney. Neither is a very good idea."

And woe betide anyone who suggested otherwise. They were incredulous, dripping venom, at anyone who suggested $50 billion was a low estimate. Shocked. Outraged.

Now?

Ending up at 2.4 trillion. That's a stack of $1000 bills over 160 miles high. Already, we've spent over $600 billion. Last I checked, that's a fuck of a lot more than $50B.

And they were pissed anyone would dare suggest this would happen. Fuckers.

This is normally where I would say something witty or something. Bush has gotten so belligerent lately however that he's somewhere between pathetic and scary. Bush somewhat strikes me as just crazy enough to do something irrational if Congress pushes too hard. Addicts generally lack iron wills and all.

bush thinks hes the king, i totally agree with you noodles, the majority of the country sees gas prices skyrocketing and there for everthing else skyrocket, our way of life is getting more out of touch, bridges are collapsing, milk is 4 bucks a gallon, but oh god, we gotta save the iraqis!! fuck the iraqis, fuck bush, bring our troops and our money back home where they and it belongs and quit wasting it and haveing the nerve to point fingers at congress bush!
