Standing up for people who are oppressed isn't crazy. Lots of people both religious and atheist are willing to risk their lives. It's called courage.

In this case, I think he is gambling that no one in Darfar is going to harm a former US president. I'd say that's a pretty safe bet, as the retribution would be pretty fucking fierce. Currently, the US is all but ignoring Darfar. Do the Sudanese really want our undivided attention?

The man is 83 years old, winner of the Nobel Peace prize, a celebrated author and diplomat, and a beloved former US president. You know, I'm not going to print my response because it's about Carter and as I said, I hate him and have for years. I used my first vote in 1980 to vote his ass out of the presidency, and I haven't thought better of him since.
If he's an icon of whatever stature to you democrats, then yeah, what a fucking guy! He sure showed 'em. He's also damn lucky he didn't get himself or anyone else in his party shot. Not every gun toting African knows who he is. And that was my original point.
