I caught this last night on 60 Minutes. This makes me sick to my stomach, especially cause I can somewhat directly relate to it. My brother buys into this school of thought, and I keep telling him and telling him but he doesn't get it. This is just plain fucking WRONG.

Yes, there's gonna be a small percentage of police mis-doing with ANY kind of crime dealings, or when it comes to police dealing with different races, but you know what? WE'RE FUCKING HUMAN! We're not perfect! And these guys REALLY think giving the police the big fuck you by not talking is really going to benefit THEM at all? What happened to morals and being a decent human being?

It's so fucking stupid that these rappers care more about making money and record sales than people's own FUCKING LIVES. They don't care about music as an art, they're in it for the money. If you wanna make money, go sell drugs. Don't tread into musical territory to fund your pleasures when those of us out there are doing it as a labour of LOVE.

"Rap takes way more slack than video games and the movies." or "We don't make guns, Smithon Wesson makes guns. White people make guns and bullets. All we doing is putting words and rhymes together." Fuck you dude. You're trying to put the blame elsewhere other than yourself. The parties that create the goods (guns, ammuninition, etc.) are not the guilty ones - the guilty parties are the said ones that USE those against other's. The sheer amount of ignorance coming from this is mind blowing.

Sorry, just a touchy subject for me that I'm passionate about.

i would argue that race has a lot to do with it, in the sense that a disproportionate percentage of non-white Americans are below the poverty line, thus increasing someone's ability to commit a crime to stay alive. i'm pretty sure you meant in a direct way, though, as in being Black doesn't mean you were born with a joint in your mouth, but, it's worth pointing out in discussions like this.

I mean that the criminals in jail are not in jail because of their race. They're in jail because they broke the law, got caught, were tried, and found guilty.

The show used straw man arguments like "the serial killer next door" which is so ridiculous. In reality, lots of black people are being put away for a long time for drug offenses. People that have to use extreme unrealistic examples to make their argument, don't have a real argument.

You make great points, and I sure as shit agree with you.

That being said, glorifying criminal behavior and working against the police, even if they are (and they can be) flawed, is no way to help matters or change things, especially where murder is concerned. Drugs are one thing (although murder is closely tied to drug trade, but we all know that), but taking another person's life is completely another.

It's the thugification of black inner city culture. Frederick Douglas and MLK are turning over in their graves with this nonsense thanks to these so-called rap "stars" and their corporate masters.

You ever seen the "Return of the KING" Episode of The Boondocks? hits that on the head so hard its not even funny. In the boondocks timeline, MLK didnt die, he just went into coma. he wakes up in the present and then sees the state of society today and moves to canada.
