There's going to be a lengthy appeal process I'm sure (and the irony that the Federal Department of Justice is the one appealing the ruling is not lost on me, nor the fact that it doesn't necessarily bode well for the appeal), but it's a start. Thank you Detroit.

i'm so glad it has happened finally. maybe this is the beginning of some much needed change. i called my mom and was like "guess what?" she's like "what?" i go "the US government works." she's like "the us government what???" and i repeated it, and she was like "i never thought i'd hear you say that"

then i told her about this decision

Its funny, on the radio i heard it paraded as "This judge in michigan is MAKING THE COUNTRY LESS SAFE BECAUSE WE CANT TAP TERRORISTS!"

That doesn't mean they won't do it, they'll still do it and not tell anyone, they just can't use it in court for anything. They'll just use it to point them in the right direction. I don't personally see anything wrong with wire tapping, as long as there is evidence supporting it, not just "hey, we think this person MIGHT be a terrorist" or "Well, this dude said this other guy is doing some bad shit, why don't we wire tap and find out?". I actually thought that's how it worked.
