Me too. I saw this posted from a bud on Facebook. Still a bit of a downer, but I like that they made the point that this profiteering pundit jerkwads don't give a crap about you... that they lump everyone that is not them into the problem category.

Truly, the vast majority of it made me sad, on a number of different levels.

1. The idea of a Disney icon (Donald) being a Glenn Beck supporter made me really sad. (I understand he was done with it by the end, but still.)

2. The idea that the animation was already in place to be edited, and really didn't need much editing to portray our current socio-economic climate, was depressing.

3. For every bit as 'farmed' as those Beck samples are, they were too easy to find and string together because he spews that kind of rhetoric so frequently. I was reading another article earlier today (washingtonpost.com) which stated

How are we *not* over talking head culture yet? I'm just astonished by our gullibility, I guess.

I agree completely. How so many good people can continue to eat the vitriolic bile Fox News shells en masse astonishes me. I don't see how people can not be disgusted by the message of hate and fear being perpetuated by these pundits.

To be completely fair, it's not just Fox. I see plenty of equivocating on all the majors. The only 'popular' news source that seems to be devoid of it is NPR, and thank .... for them or I would hardly believe anything any more.

I'd agree about the equivocating, but I really only see the hate-mongering on Fox...maybe a bit on CNN from that new guy.

What really messes with me is when NPR gets branded has some liberal network when its the only network which really is not affiliated either way.

Anyone want to clarify this metaphor or are they just saying Goofy, Pluto, and Mickey represent Marxism/Communism/"Anti-Americanism"?

In the scene you reference, I think that Goofy, Pluto and Mickey are 'regular people' in Donald's world. They represent the 'average American' as far as the metaphor is concerned. IE -- they're not hurting anybody, just trying to go about their days, and thanks to Beck Donald thinks he's at war with them.

That's what I got out of it, anyway.

I refuse to listen to anything Glen Beck has to say... I had a friend attempt to take me to a Glen Beck rally once and all he came back talking about was how America needs morals and values. Could you be more vague?

Furthermore he came back remarking to me how surprised he was to see as many "ppl of color" there as he did... Not only that, he says that there was a black news reporter going around asking black ppl if they saw any "ppl of color" there. Why would I want to go to that? The reasoning my friend gives is that they're trying to make the point that they don't see color. The fact that they went out of their way to do this--especially in the manner they chose--says to me that they definitely do.

I can't support anyone who seems to try to keep us divided under the pretense of a "united" nation... Glen Beck can sit and ....in' spin...
