Meanwhile, in New York...
Carl Paladino Threatens Reporter: 'I'll Take You Out' (VIDEO)
![]() This guy's whole campaign have been that of rage from day one, so I guess this shouldn't be a surprise. I'm sure we've all seen political lawn signs our whole life. Anything look odd about these?: ![]()

"I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!!!!!!!!!!"
![]() Isn't that from the movie Network or something??? That aside, yeah, angry man is angry. Someone needs to give him a big hug... and maybe a tug job. And no, I'm not volunteering. But seriously, get this guy laid and I'm sure he'll mellow out. |

The "rage vote" is a surprisingly large part of the New York constituency.
![]() Who knows, there's a chance his poll numbers go up over this considering his target audience.

Yeah but there's a fine line between "I'm mad as hell at the government status quo and the way things are run" and "I'm mad as hell at YOU Mr. Reporter for pushing my buttons and now I'm going to have you killed..."
The former IS a big part of the Right wing party line at the moment, and yeah I can see some of them buying into it. As I said in another thread, people are fed up. Right or wrong, they're sick of the stagnation. Now personally, I'm not of the opinion that once they get their wish (election wins, etc) that *suddenly* things would be better. I would hope they would, but I wouldn't count on it, not for a New York Minute. The latter statement and ones like it are just silly. And personally, no, I don't expect the constituency or his target demo to understand the difference. I would *hope* they would, but again, I wouldn't count on it. |

He was the STRONG winner in the Republican primary, as well as the "Conservative Party" vote. I mean... this guy is the mainstream Republican candidate for the governor's race here. They actually had a few really level-headed guys vying for the spot in the primary, but Paladino got the Tea Party endorsement and got a lot of support to push him into the spotlight.
It's unfortunate because I'm all for competition, for one, but his contributers have to be hanging their head right now wondering what they just wasted their money on.

For ultimate "head exploding" reaction for Orb, the only person I've actively campaigned for this election cycle is our Republican State Senator. I've put up a few dozen lawn signs for the guy.

If you want to hear something ever crazier, last year I worked on the campaign for the Republican party of a nearby town and they clean sweeped it. All five dudes took the town board. Yeah, I was kinda proud of that.
![]() As partisan as our discussions seem, I vote on the issues. More often than not, my opinions break a certain way, but local politics (especially in NY) are very subjective depending on the individual. Also, here in NY, there are very few issues that separate D's and R's. Most politicians I've dealt with spent at least some time in either party. That's cool man
How are they doing? The town board members that is? There are certain issues that I feel very strongly about, but what concerns me most is results. For instance, here in SoCal we have "Get to the Choppa" as our governator. At first he was "OK" by some standards I guess, promised the world as they all do and failed to deliver. Regardless of the R next to his name, he's as useless as screen doors on a submarine. So yeah, results results results, that's what I care about. |

Very well. One of them actually won the spot as town supervisor and things have been going well.
One of the things that really helped them, the town said they were doing to stop doing bulk garbage pickup because it wasn't in the budget, so during election season, they got a group of volunteers and a local junk hauling company to organize their own volunteer bulk pickup. Stuff like that. But yeah, I worked on the campaign because I knew one of the guys closely and he gave me the layout of what has been going on in their town. We helped come up with a few event ideas but we helped put together a community forum website where they posted all they were doing. Since they've won, the site is now being used as a discussion forum and community feedback thing. People can actually post and discuss their concerns, etc. and they can directly interact with the people who live there. I vote on results, as well. The State Senator I mentioned putting signs up for, my town has been neglected and falling to piece for the last few decades for a couple reasons (including being neglected by the up-county officials who save all the money for projects in their district) and he's been working to help us out. The village got grant money from the state to re-mediate the downtown to attract new businesses but there was a clause that they needed to take care of some leaking pipes under mainstreet. The village couldn't get the funds to do it, so the store fronts continued to fall apart and no businesses would setup shop there, so they got no tax dollars for other projects and we were stuck paying property taxes through the nose just to keep the DPW and local police. Our Senator helped to get a small, no-interest loan for the village to fix the pipes and after that was done, the rest of the money was released for fixing the downtown, as a result, businesses have been moving in and the economy is on the up. That's stuff that matter to me. That's where my vote goes. "Can we pull back the veil of static and reach in to the source of all being?
