Which piezo for my Strat?

Whats up guys, I'm looking for a piezo to put in my 2000 Fender Mexi Strat but I'm not sure which one to get. The Fishman seems REALLY expensive, and I'm not sure how the other two sound. The body is alder, the neck is maple, and the board is rosewood. Could you guys post clips and pics if you have any of them? And which electronics/preamps should I get with them? Thanks a lot, Marc

When you say "the other two", could you be more specific? I'm assuming you're maybe looking at the L.R. Baggs system and the GraphTech saddles.

Chances are, not a lot of people have tried all three.

Are you going to be installing it yourself, or are you having a tech install it?

Yea, by "other two" I'm refering to the Graph Tech and the L.R. Baggs. And yes, I'm gonna have a tech install it, cuz I'm not great with that kinda thing yet

Sorry, i didn't see the poll. I clicked on the "first new post in thread" icon in the list, and it took me right to your post.

The L.R. Baggs and Fishman systems are a little more user friendly on the installations, because they're essentially drop-in replacement bridges. The GraphTech system is a little more fiddly because it's just saddles that go on your existing bridge.

Although they're more hassle to install, the Ghost saddle piezos combined with the Acousti-Phonic preamp really sounds good - rich, transparent and no noise. These are the same units I installed in my Ibanez 7321, and have installed two more in customers guitars since, with great results. I fully recommend them

It's too bad you couldn't get to my shop up here in Ontario, I give SS.org members special prices on tech work.

Please be kind to snakes. They can't help it.

Wow, thats pretty sweet. Lol. I made a mistake in the poll, its SUPPOSED to be the L.R. Baggs X-Bridge, the Ctrl-X is the preamp...my bad.

The Graphtechs look really bad. I really dont like how the cables are routed. It looks shitty.

Heres a pic.

Yea I'm not liking that either. I've seen guitars that have the Graph Tech that dont have cables visible...just gotta figure out how the hell they did it...

Basically the same way I did mine - the wires run through holes in the bridgeplate underneath the saddles. These guys could have done it this way, you're right - that looks shitty.

O nice, but do you have to drill through the bridge or do they go through the holes that are already there? And where do they go from there? Thanks, Marc
