On that note, When I first paid for my deposit on my guitar, he gave me a delivery date of July 3rd. It's now the 6th, and As far as I know, he only has the body blank set aside for my order. So yeah. POOF! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yeah, I don't know what's up. I asked for a fret job from Carruthers guitar works in CA back in november. The guy (Jim) quoted me two weeks lead time. Last I talked to them was last week, and they hadn't even started. I'm kind of pissed, but what can you do? Ask for your guitar back? Well, I did. Then, I ordered some Dimarzios from the store I work at back in April. Have seen neither hide nor hair of them! I guess you have to do some research and find out the company's reputation before you shell out the cash sometimes. I've had some good experiences as well, but it seems like American repair shops just don't gve two shits about their customers sometimes. Jon Catler did a swell job on my 19-EDO strat, though. I recieved the piece well within the promised time and he even got me a discontinued finish with extra routing at no extra cost, just becasue the people at the website made a small mistake. for Jon Catler at Freenote! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | That's the thing with Sims. They're a VERY reliable and reputable place, and they deliver on time! People often got the wrong end of the stick as far as his pricing goes for LED work (although it is partly the way he has his prices listed that's to blame). He's done a lot of work for Vai (think he even did the original mirror-top Jem for him, before he'd sussed the correct stuff to use unfortunately, hence the crazing). I think Sims are the only place that can do an LED retro-fit without removing the fretboard too. Random fact:The first guitar i ever saw with an LED fretboard (and it wasn't an aftermarket job)was in around '86 and it was a Hamer Vector (?) pointy V type-thing,like KK Downing uses.It was all black, black hardware, ebony board with red LED's. It impressed the shit out of me at the time! The whole LED thing doesn't appeal to me really these days.I wouldn't mind side-dots but i find the actual fretboard ones far too garish and overly showy (unless you're Steve Vai,then you can get away with it). |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Sims might deliver on time, but it is not worth it at all to pay the extra for that luxury, seeing how the exchange rate kills anyone in America. Also, I have no idea how they would be able to have the L.E.D's put into the neck, and wire it all up without having to remove the fretboard... |
