They sell Schaller locking tuners individually.

GRRR....

Yeah, tell me about it. I just went through this fresh new hell while I was trying to get Sperzel to sell me a single machine for my 7321 custom project....poor sales rep, I really gave them the gears about it (pun unintended) on the phone. After the salesman at my local Long & Mcquade couldn't help me, I insisted he phone the head distributor on the other side of the country and find out. I was not going to simply roll over on this issue without a logical explaination why. "May I have that phone please?".......it went pretty much like this:

Me: "So, can you please give me a logical explaination why you won't sell me a single tuner?"

Rep: "Well, it's not company policy to sell individual units. We get them pre-packaged in sets of six only."

M: "That's still not a logical reason why, you're just reiterating that you simply don't, and that's it - not why you don't."

R: "Um, well I don't really know why, but that's the way it is. We just distribute the products as we get them from the company."

M: "That's really absurd. It's not like they're welded together or anything. Someone has to manually insert them into that pack individually. What do you do if you get a returned defective tuner under warranty?"

R: "It would be returned to the factory, and then repaired or replaced."

M: "So you're telling me that they have no problem coming up with a single tuner for replacement, but not if you wish to simply buy an extra, single unit, to accomodate a seven string"

R: "Yes, I guess so."

M: "Well that's fucking ludicrous. I think Sperzels are an excellent product, but you are forcing me to take my business elsewhere, you do realize that? This is basically seven-string discrimination. I apologize for being terse, but I'm really pissed about this."

R: "We're very sorry sir, but you're more than welcome to take this up with the head office if you wish."

M: "No thanks, your product is good, but not the be-all-end-all. This isn't worth this kind of hassle. I'll go with a more co-operative company."

grumble, grumble....this is seven-string discrimination I tells ya....grumble....bastids...

And that was basically it. I wound up going with Schallers, which are also an excellent product. You'll do well with those.
/end rant

Thanks for letting me vent......

Please be kind to snakes. They can't help it.

You know what,,,I'm having the same project with a stripped Conklin I have at work. I can get a discount on the Sperzel tuners 3x3. I didn't really want to have to buy 2 sets to get one complete for my project. I will need 4 lefts and 3 rights, leaving me hanging onto 2 & 3. I was thinking that I could sell the extra's here,,,but I'm not that familiar with Sperzels so I'm not sure if there is a difference in design based on "inline" or 3x3 ( left and right ).

I may end up buying 2 sets of 3x3's and if so I'm going to offer them up here. I just need to find a Wilkinson trem ( the good one VS100 or whatever with the pop in trem arm ).

There is - the six in line usually have the graduated post heights for Strat-style guitars...

Division - American metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on MySpace, and Soundclick, too.
