Question about ebony boards.

May be disgusting, but here's what's happening.

1) Starting to see lines in my ebony board.
2) I got gray lines around my frets, with shiny spots in between.

What do I do in this situation?

3 weeks is a long time in my books. my strings barely last a week, and thats with wiping them down after - i sweat easy.

yes, you can use lemon oil. i take light-grade toothbrush to my fretboard to get the light gunk off as well.

do you clean your strings after a playing session?

Ignoring the other post, would a toothpick or toothbrush get rid of the stuff aroudn the frets? I figure what I will do is clean around the frets, put the oil in the frets, then rub the frets clean.

I used to a lot, but it's the summer. I change my strings twice during the summer, and wipe them down with alcohol every two weeks or so.

Toothbrush got the dust and shit out! Awesome. Shiny spots still there, will lemon oil in a few days.

I'm not sure, but I *think* alcohol might be making the situation worse? Seems like it would dry the fretboard out faster.

Jim Dunlop makes a fingerboard kit with a cleaner & conditioner, and also sells lemon oil; I've used the 01/02 kit and it did wonders for me!

I meant the strings, I wipe down the strings...alcohol could drip in the fretboard though. Hmm.

I have GHS Fast Fret, but I don't think it will do. Here is what I plan to do:

1) Put Fast Fret on the frets, wipe down frets.
2) Put Lemon Oil on the board, wipe down board, wipe down fret again.
3) Put Fast Fret on frets again and restring
