They're here!! (BKP wiring HALP!)
i hate wiring, i really do, but i always end up doing it myself because it's such a simple job in reality,
i'm swapping out some dimarzio new 7s, so... what the hell goes where?? 5 way selector, 4 conductor wiring so, the shin bone's connected to the what now? |

This won't directly help, but...
The BKPs will be wired the exact same way, the only difference is the wiring color codes. You just need to know what codes BKP uses that correlate to the color codes Dimarzio uses. There are websites that list the codes for the major makers like SD to Dimarzio, etc. I'd try Googling it, but if that doesn't help, e-mailing Tim at BKP is probably a wise decision, since I'm betting he knows.

yeah i know they're wired the same way, i just wanted a direct code-matching, but i'm guessing the schematics on their website will just illustrate directly? i hope, i'll have a look (dont know why i didnt think of this)...

7 Dying Trees and I both employ a kind of "cheat" method, that works great (especially if you swap pickups a lot like us
) where you leave some lead attached to the switches and controls, and then you just wire the pickup wires to the left over lead directly. Solder it, wrap with electrical tape, voila! It's much easier, and generally faster, unless you're a soldering guru. |

is it possible to do this without taking the strings off? i guess if i dump the whammy bar the strings will be loose enough to slip the pup under i cant find the wiring diagram on their site ![]() |

It's definitely possible to swap pups without taking strings off.
Know what I do? 1. Dive the trem, making the strings slack. Put a rag or something under the trem 2. Loosen the nut. 3. Loosen the strings in the tuners. 4. Pull the strings taught, then lock the nut. 5. Take'em out of the lock blocks on the trem, and tape'em up on the neck, away from the action. When you're done, just put the strings back in the trem, clamp'em down, and retune. Simple! ![]() |

I dunno on BKPs... not sure how they are made.
On Dimarzios, you can adjust all the polepieces on most of their 7-string pups. Some are old-school Gibson style, with screw and slug polepieces, so the screw is adjustable, slug not really. But, that's only how it seems The slug just rests in the plastic bobbin cavity, and can be moved around with applying pressure. It's not a big deal, really, though. Nothing you'd notice is the polepiece is only slightly raised. |

yeah its a screw and slug job, a couple of the screw pieces are a tad uneven, and i'm weird like that. i mean, you pay £200 for pickups youd want them to be perfect, right?
