![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Video: High Gain D-Activator in Basswood vs. Blaze in Ash (1527/Sherman content) Just a short video here taken with my P&S, so the sound quality isn't exactly awesome (it adds like 25% more fucking treble )I'm not playing anything particularly interesting, just letting a few chords ring out. This is my highest gain / most scooped patch. Normally I back it off quite a bit for the Sherman since it's such a beautifully resonant instrument, but for forging the ol' metal gobs of gain is just a lot of fun. D-Activator in the 1527 (Basswood), Blaze in the Sherman (Ash). Verdict? The 1527 sounds a hell of a lot more articulate. This video's not the best example but you can still tell the difference right away. The blaze loses some clarity with this much gain whereas the DA hangs right in there. Even the harmonic I do at the end with the Blaze is a bit muddy. I Blazes to death for just about everything, but for really viscious tones, after a day with the D-Activator, I really like 'em, and they're a LOT warmer than the 707's were in my Hellraiser. :: chrisquigley.com :: Sevenstring Registry :: Share Your Music :: Share Your Patches :: Sevenstring.org MySpace chmod +ax /bin/laden |

![]() | Hell yeah, nice tones! The D Activator is a great pickup, it always reminded me of a hotter, fatter, more articulate Blaze with a bit more mids. Between the Buried and Me are using D Activators now in their Ibanez S's. i saw them live a few weeks ago and they sounded amazing! Way better tone than when they used EMG's! |
