![]() | Bare Knuckle vs. Lundgren so i've decided i want to go the passive route and don't much like whats offered for seymour duncan or dimarzio. gave up on actives, and i am sick of the battery stuff. just want a passive pup with good high output that will crush like a mother fucker when mixed with ENGL or VHT. also help give me that punishing death metal sound i love so much. so which would be better. Bare Knuckle pick ups: - NAILBOMB - WARPIG OR Lundgren - M7 and obviously by the M7 u can tell it will be for a 7 string. sorry forgot to add PAINKILLER Last edited by Sepultorture; 05-08-2008 at 06:39 PM. The Nailbomb has aggressive in-your-face mid-range grind, with tight lows, great harmonics, yet treble that is somewhat warm/sweet, not harsh or too bright. The Warpig is more of an overall massive sounding brutal pickup. A load of bass, smoother mids than the Nailbomb, great leads. Really bold and punchy sounding. You can opt for the Ceramic model which will give you more output, tighter bass, and more aggressive mids - but with less warm highs. You can also opt to get an Alnico 8 magnet with the Nailbomb (or any model) at no extra charge. The Painkiller I don't recommend for what you're looking for. The Painkiller was designed to be pure 80s metal tone, not really brutal. Its powerful and it screams, really bright and crisp, but its just not voiced with death metal in mind. The Miracle Man and Cold Sweat models are both really powerful hot pickups that would work great for heavier styles too. The Miracle Man is a little more scooped sounding, with a low mid chunk focus and over the top harmonics/bright crunch on the high end. The Cold Sweat is also powerful but it's a little more organic and well-rounded. The Lundgren M7 gets good reviews too, I've never played one though so I don't have an opinion on them. However, what I can say that is factual, is that the Lundgrens cost twice as much as BKPs do, so it would seem to me to make more sense to try BKPs first if all things are equal. They also don't have adjustable pole pieces like most pickups, which can be limiting, especially with big string gauges that some 7-stringers use. Good luck, let me know if you have any other questions. ![]()

The M7 was a really grinding, certainly brutal distortion, but the Nailbomb is just as heavy and will still peel your face off. The Nailbomb is more nuanced and articulate than the M7, and is nowhere near as harsh and overbright. It also costs less than half as much. _________________________ "I am so omniscient, if there was to be two omnisciences, I would be both!" - ZTO My Soundclick Page |

![]() | i want something with a nice heavy but tight low end, great mid range that helps to cut through the mix, harmonically rich, and a nice high end that isn't to bright. ohwell doesn't hurt to throw a Nailbomb 7 in the neck and see how it turns out. if i don't like it i'll just rotate thru some other BKPs and see how it turns out, might even give the M7 a try down the road. good descriptions Nick. sounds like the Nailbomb will be my first choice never really tried a passive pup with a grinding sounding mid range, might be interesting. |

That describes the Nailbomb perfectly. If you want to order one, let me know and I'll hook you up. ![]()
