For a single pickup you mean? Well yea just make sure Ran doesn't overcharge you is all. If they are fair, it would make more sense to get it from them of course. Sometimes it's cheaper just to supply the pickups yourself however. I could certainly sell you one for much less than $193 Canadian Dollars.

You are better off mailing the pickup out to Dariusz. One of my confidants that interested me in Ran in the first place had a Kahler he shipped out to him, and Dariusz was super cool/helpful about it.

You can also opt to get an Alnico 8 magnet with the Nailbomb (or any model) at no extra charge.

The Painkiller I don't recommend for what you're looking for. The Painkiller was designed to be pure 80s metal tone, not really brutal. Its powerful and it screams, really bright and crisp, but its just not voiced with death metal in mind.
Painkiller not good for death? I'll have to reconsider which pickup I'll be getting in the future. and i keep hearing about these alnico 8s. what do they sound like compared to ceramic or alnico 5 in the same pickup?

No no, the Painkiller is definitely good for death. Good death metal tone has more to do with the amp and your playing style. Any good high output ceramic pickup with lots of mid-range grind and great pick attack is going to be good for death metal. I was just saying the 'character' of the pickup is more tailored for 80s metal, thrash, power metal, etc. But plenty of pickups that are designed for other applications work great for death metal (or anything really). I mean I used PAF pickups in death metal and it sounded amazing.

Yeah there's a lot of hype surrounding alnico 8s these days. There's nothing superior about them necessarily, but they can be a good way to go in certain situations as they're different. Alnico 8s can tame the sometimes overly bright high-end characteristics of ceramics - they're more clear than bright. They also can maintain a tight bottom end better than your average alnico 5. However, they're actually MORE compressed than even a ceramic - which can be good or bad depending on the situation.

For example, I have a customer who wants an alnico 8 Painkiller which I think is a great idea. The Painkiller sounds great as is, especially in a darker guitar. But if someone wants that Painkiller sound but with a softer high end and smoother mids, an alnico 8 is a great choice. Tim will use any magnets you wish at no extra cost.

All that said, I still think there may be better options for your guitar but the Painkiller wouldn't be a bad way to go certainly.
