I'm really wondering which grade of stainless is most often used to make stainless frets, versus which is most common for stainless strings.

I've tried googling, but I either find a ton of information about which grades are best for replica swords, or how stainless steel frets are so great, but nothing about which grade they use for frets.

Also, have you guys ever had any experience with other non-standard fret materials? I've played quite a few basses with the non-nickel type brass/bronze frets. The tone wasn't really my thing for bass, but what about on guitar?
