Question Problem: Evo 7 won't fit in RG body

Hey guys new user here just having some trouble with pickups I've installed. I have a RG1527 and recently bought the Air Norton 7 and the Evolution 7 and installed them which work fine. But the wire under the right side of the Evo is too fat so the pickup is either sitting right below the strings or its slanted badly.

Has anyone else had a problem fitting pickups in an RG before? I e-mailed a DiMarzio tech and he said to remove some wood in the pickup cavity, but is there an easier solution?

I had to do this to make a pickup fit into my Dean. I just gently chieseled some wood out. Was no big deal. As long as you don't mess with where the pickups mount. Although I've never heard of anyone having trouble putting dimarzios into ibbys.

Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance only hides the truth. And the longer that truth has to hide, the more it stings when it makes itself known.

I think i've read somewhere that the Evo has an especially tall coil.

Just carefully take a Dremmel or a small wood chisel to the bottom of your pickup cavity. It's not a big deal really.

All right guys thanks for your help. I just didn't want to take the strings off cause I spent all Sunday setting it up. (Floating trems + seven string = ANGER) Guess I'll give it a shot later today. Again, thanks for the quick response.

My Edge 7 Lo Pro stays in tune flawlessly, just keep it tuned up (oiled, cleaned, etc...)

yeah, but trems can be a nightmare for people who don't understand how to set them up properly and how they function.

MBlack24, you don't have to go through the hassle of removing the strings at all, just take the whole bridge off, with the strings attached. much, much easier .

IBANEZ RULES!! tech - setup

Yeah I know how trems work, I just meant I had to set up the action, intonation, truss rod etc. Ed, Thanks a lot for that link, that looks a lot easier than having to set everything up again. Looks like I can finally give that trem some cleaning too.
