![]() | Blackout and EMG-707 in same guitar. I decided that the EMG 81-7 was a poor choice when I installed it in my LTD-H307 in the bridge position last year. I went ahead and ordered a Blackout to replace it. It worked out well having the EMG-707 in the neck and blackout in the bridge. Great combo. I cut the lead off the Blackout, and just used the quick connector. Pickup sounds great, more natural than a 707 or 81-7. If i had a 707 in the bridge, would i have replaced THAT with the blackout? No. Not because it isn't as good as the 707, but because the 707 in the bridge sounds good. You won't need that anymore. Not anymore. It's on sale at your fuckin dollar store. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i would say that the only tonewood that 707s are ass in would be Mahogany and Mahogany/Maple cap. After hours and hours of tryin the 707 in my old 8527 (mahogany/maple) it was just too much everything. It was like an overload of bass and mids. Totally muddy mess, so i popped the 81-7 in there and it fixed that problem. All this is opinion tho, and i think the 707 sounds the very best in a Basswood body. The only thing that has me itching to try the Blackout 7 models is their lower noise level, but i can pretty much eliminate a LOT of my noise with my gate, without crushing my tone. just my two cents Looking for an Ibanez RG970XL |
