707 routing

Does anyone have any picture of emg 707s in a nonstock application?I bought one for my BC rich Mockingbird 7sting.I took it to a shop that had it for 3mos.He was looking for a pickup ring for it. when I told it doesn't get a ring he looks at me like I was speakin Chinese. The SECOND shop is telling me that I have the wrong pickup that it's for a bass.I need something to show this fool because he just doesn't get it.

Return the 707, and pick up a Duncan Blackout Phase 1 instead. Active pickup in a passive size.

You CAN get a pickup ring for it, but what they probably planned to do was freehand route it, or take a Dremel to it and do a shitty job, and wanted to use the ring to hide it. Get soldierkahn to post a pic of his J-Custom he routed for an EMG (which is opening up a whole new can of worms ). Cleanest after market EMG route I've ever seen. It can be done, but I'd say follow Noodles' advice, return the EMG and get the Blackout Phase 1. If any routing is required, it will only be for depth. Also, don't let the dumb ass at the second shop touch your guitar under any circumstance.

Well, as far as the second shop, i could understand that, since it IS in a bass pickup housing. Id still go elsewhere though if you want to put that in. I too agree you should get the blackouts though. theyre cheaper, and IMO sound better ( i used to defend the EMGs too dude )

I got my Mockingbird back today and I'm pretty pissed!.The final bill was $118 for a bone nut , the pickup install and setup. They wired the 707 wrong-so there's no juice from the battery, the pickup selector switch was removed and the hole was covered with electrical tape(it's a 2 pickup guitar but I just wanted one EMG in the bridge, the neck pickup would be replaced when I could afford it but I didn't want the switch removed),the route basically looks good but they didn't make room for the adjustment screws so it's held in place with some kind of foam. The assholes did't even use the new 9 volt that I provided! Ive been playing guitar for over 25 yrs. When I was a teenager I worked on my own guitars because I couldn't afford pay someone. Now that I'm grown up I'm willing to pay someone else to do it. If a sixteen yr.old can figure out how to install a pickup, then how come an adult who works on guitars for a living can't?

Wow....just wow. These guys are idiots. I've always installed and routed my own pickups. And it wasn't hard to figure out. If I were you, I wouldn't accept that from them. One, they didn't use what you supplied them with (the battery) and two, they took parts from your guitar without asking (switch). Not to mention they put tape on your guitar.

GO GET YOUR MONEY BACK!! Be all sorts of this =>
