![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Does the D Activator7 stack up against other high output passives? Does it have the same massive output and tight bass response as, say, the Lundgren M series or Bare Knuckle Painkillers, for that low tuned Meshuggah/Tesseract/Periphery sound where you can really hear the timber of the strings? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | when i had it, i loved it and hated it. In my basswood rg it sounded flubby, not enough definination, and it was muddy, but in my mahogany s7 it sounded awesome, it was articulate, tight, full sounding, it sounded crazily similiar to my emg's, but in a passive form. If your going basswood, no, but if your going mahogany, definatly get one. My ONLY complaint in the mahogany was that it was a little noisey, just a small buzz at high volumes or when you were near any interferance, like a crt. but i think , in mahogany at least, you could totally pull off the "timber" sounded your looking for, hope that helps |

![]() | I was thinkin about putting some in my s7320 I Really Like Ibanez Seven String Guitars Origanally posted by Variant - Pulled from the river Styx, the mighty black oar of doom in hand! I certainly would not call this particular guitar an "axe" more like a club. Whereas Noodles' KxK would run through an emo, spilling his insides for a quick death, this blunt mace would bludgeon the unfortunate effeminate soul, breaking bones, bruising muscle, and causing internal bleeding to lead only to a slow, painful death ![]() |

![]() | I have a D-Activator in the bridge of my maple neck-through, and it sounds great - clear, even frequency response and bold low-end. It's not harsh like alot of high-gain pickups, notes tend to blend together smoothly. |

![]() | It has massive output and tight bass response, but I don't think its on par with the boutique pickups you mentioned. I had the DA in my 7621 for a while, and it was OK, just rather bland. It did remind me of a higher output, middier Blaze though, so it may work well for some older Meshuggah style stuff, but I think you'd be better off with an Evo7 or DS7 if your on a budget, otherwise go for the Bareknuckles! |
