jackson_metal_head is on a distinguished road
Can I justify shelling out for Lundgrens?

Hi.

well. Basically i have recently sold my v-amp and my old crappy jackson on the Bay after i bought my 7. Therefore i have some extra cash.

what i really want you to help me with is deciding on whether in my given position i can justify spending money on lundgrens.

I know they are comparable with 707s, i know what they sound like.
i have been playing for about 5 years, I am at an alright level of playing (for example i can pull off most of The Stillborn one fairly tighly), im not in a band but i jam occasionally with another guitarist, we are looking for members for a band. I'm 16.

I want a new Bridge Pickup - I want EMG 707s, or Lundgrens, or possible some Dimarzios although i havent looked into the latter all that much.

EMG's are £130 for the bridge (im guessing $260) and lundrens, including shipping will come to £170 (so $340)

It's not like i dont have the money, I have enough already and I will be paid fairly soon anyway, its just whether i can justify spending that huge amount of money on the lundgrens, are they worth the extra cash ontop of the EMG?
shall i just get dimarzios?

£170 just seems a phenomenal sum to spend on a single pickup - it is actually about £50 more than i spent on my rg7421......

All im asking for is some guidance, given my situation, on whether i can justify spending the cash.

thanks!

They sound fucking sick, you have the money, what's the problem?

Get a lundgren, wire it up, hit an enormous power chord and if you don't shit bricks over it then rip it out and sell it. Plenty of people would want to snatch one up.

i dont know what conversions rates are between european countries. but for 30 pounds more than the lundgrens there is bkp locally. that said, the lundgrens make a lot of people happy. Will the lundgrens fix a bottleneck? thats one thing i look at when upgrading. is whatever piece of gear keeping the rest of my rig from meeting potential?

To be honest, I'd look at bareknuckles as well, as they are actually cheaper than lundgrens and the EMG...

I'd probably go check out Bareknuckles. They seem to be a stellar option, and a couple prefer them to Lundgrens. Also, EMGs would require routing.

I'm pretty happy with my Lundgren M7 set, although I did get mine used at a great discount so for me it cost less than a set of BKPs. Are there any floating around on the used market in the UK? Might look for a discounted used set rather than new ones as they're pretty pricey new.

I've yet to install my Bare Knuckles, but I have got a Lundgren in my Jackson. It's phenominal. Staggering clarity under extreme gain, and with a sweet clean tone you'd never expect from a pickup this hot. The previous owner found it clipped his DI box on the settings he used to record with EMG's.
