EMG 707 coiltap idea ... will it work?

The new '08 schecter hellraiser models have EMG 707s that are coiltap-able. Indeed
i bought one but was sent the wrong guitar (was sent the 6 string version) and cus of shitness i couldnt send it back without loosing lots o' do$h.
but this C1 6string hellraiser does have the new EMG coiltaps and theyr feckin wicked!

Im gettin a custom Agile made with 707s and (as long as kurt can get hold of them) will get these coiltap-able ones

BUT i only want the 1 volume and 1 tone
Soooooo

Would it be possible to have 2 EMG 707s wired so that i have 1 coiltap volume for the both and have both pickups taped in or taped out and the same time?

it should work ya?

Yes, you can wire them to a switch or switches as well, that's what I do.

Such pain, I must help...deepen it

what the switches? If you have a radioshack.thesource or any electronics store, you can buy the 3PDT switches for 2.99US or less.

I could be wrong. but i dont think it will work, actually. for normal pickups, you can wire 2 coilcut to a single dpdt switch (2 way mini, or in your case, a push pull knob). the emg's dont actually use a real coil cut though. instead, they have 3 coils, a humbucker and a single. in a normal humbucker, when you coilcut, it just removes one of the 2 coils from the signal path. easily done using half a switch, so you can use the same switch to operate two pickups under coilcut. the way the emg's work, if it is in fact the same way as an 89, is to switch between the humbucker and the 3rd coil, which when ive wired the 89s in before, didnt leave enough open junctions on the switch to have 2 operate on one switch.
I could be wrong, but assuming it works the same as the emg89, im pretty sure it wont work, unfortunately.

easy fix though
what you could do however, is have the volume knob coilcut the neck bucker, and the treble knob cut the bridge. Unless you intend to use a push pull function on the treble knob for something else

Reverse Headstocks or Bust

Oh damn, I think your right. I forgot about how emg's coil splitting works. Well, I guess he can go with 2 switches or 1 push/pull and i switch if that's the case.

Exactly what izzyor said. THere are four preamps for two pickups, and you are selecting which one to activate.

hmmmm

Edit: Not really lookin for the switches idea - altho i might do it to my ibby which im lookin into modding up sometime soon

you guys sure it wouldnt work?
wat if you wired both pickups to the same volume pushpull pot?
im not great with wiring so danno if thatd work - thats jsut wat im after tho (if its poss)

a push pull pot is still functionally identical to a miniswitch. the only difference is you switch it by pushing/pulling the knob instead of flipping a toggle. the switching schematic itself is actually identical. so thats a no go.
id just use the 2 knobs if i were you
its a pain i know, but its sorta the cards were dealt. at least they have "coil cut" actives now, so to speak
