Have anyone tried to take apart those IBZ AH1-7 pups? (stock from 7321)

I'd like to take one of those appart to paint the plastic plate/cover of the pickup so the neck would match my white blaze 7 in the bridge...

not sure if it's a good idea. I think it's probably glued really hard on top of the pickup and I wouldn't want to break it into pieces (shitty but working pick up is better than nothing - plus if will ever swap blaze for sometihng else- it'll take time, so i'll have to use stock for a week)

so yea , if anyone tried that - please let me know

just mask all the pickup around the bobbin tops and stick toothpicks in the allen holes.
then, spray really really light coats on

umm.... theyre easy to remove, but the issue is that you have to make the pickup stop working to do so

the wire is actually wrapped around those things, they dont just unscrew (well not the top part anyways)

Humbuckers are built quite differently from single coils.

As nick said, you could paint it

your other option is bobbin toppers

I was actually thinking about painting it, but then for a minute I thought that it could be as easy as taking appart the single coil...

bobbin toppers - dont like them for a few reasons (although I didn't try them - but still). I think they wont last long, and that means I'd have to keep on bying them, and then also it's the wait - 2-4 weeks from what I heard to get those...

I guess I'll go with painting

...cant wait to finish pimpint my guitar, want to make it look something like dendroaspis's 7321 - black and white

i wish humbuckers were as easy to disassemble as single coils!

well anyway thanks for advices. I'll post some pics when I'll finish (but it'll be really similar to dendroaspis's thread)

and one quick offtopic question:
stock pickups have smaller base plate than Dimarzios (at least those that I had - paf7 and blazr bridge) and holes for screws on dimarzios don't match with stock, and imo there is only one thing to do - drill that base plate sideways (I would'nt want to drill guitar's body)... did everyone who replaced pups on 7321 had to go through this or am i the only one "special" like that? ))

The are a bit inside on my S7 as well, but i just angled the screws in. its actually a small enough difference that the screws will correct themselves and youll be good to go.
FWIW, drilling the body would be much more structurally sound than making a horizontal groove hole would be

well that's the thing - if that difference was small enough i wouldn't even bother picking up drill - I'd be happy with angled screws... angling screws worked with PAF7, but Blaze is waaay too large...
the reason I don't want to drill body is that the holes would be really close to each other, and in case something goes wrong - there is a chance that tiny wall between them will break and I will end up with a mess... obviously it's fixable, with epoxy, but I personally would like to avoid that)

Solution = stuff the hole with toothpicks and a bit of glue then drill a new hole
