![]() | Ibanez RG1527 Prestige 7-string with DiMarzio Drop Sonic ? I have problem with installing the Drop Sonic 7 pickup in Ibanez RG1527 Prestige 7-string guitar. It sounds like a noisy single coil not as a humless humbucker when i installed it (red-contact,green&bare -ground, and black&white soldered together on split. The factory bridge Ibanez pickup V-77 has only three wires (red, bare and white (?) . Could you please help me with the right schematics for that guitar ? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | you did it correctly. Id just check for cold joints etc. FWIW, the Dsonic isnt quite balanced as a humbucker, and is noisier than other models Reverse Headstocks or Bust Dude...i just got a spam email that was titled "Funky date rape trick" -Zepp88 I just got another funny email "Her pussy smiled at me" -Zepp88 Don't tell me you haven't heard of Raptor Jesus It's important that you know this information :headnod: It will decide your fate when we are pwned. -JoeOvChaosI was going KAT KAT KAT KAT and you were going KAT... chk... ![]() | Thanx for the answer. It sounds like quasi-humbucker to me. Something like crossing between singlecoil and humbucker. And it buzzes almost like a singlecoil. Am i right or is something wrong with this pickup ? |

If you like the way it sounds you may get a good noise gate. The only proof he needed for the existance of God was music. Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Without music, life would be a mistake. Each pole isn't isn't identical (bars vs. individual polepieces) so the hum cancelling isn't going to be as neat and tidy and exact. It shouldn't be as bad as a single, but it wont be as silent as a real humbucker. |

![]() | The DS7 picks up alot of electromagnetic interference and will make weird noises if your holding it facing a computer, lightsource, or directly in front of your amp(just like any other pickup really), etc. Its mostly noticeable while wearing headphones, which can be a bit of a hassle when recording because you have to move away from the computer. Its never been a problem for me because it doesnt make any more noise than any other high gain pickup when your playing with the band or just jamming through your amp, just as long as its not right in front of anything electrical. I don't use a noisegate because I'm not getting any excess squealing through my rig. Try turning down the gain a bit, and if that doesnt help, pickup a noisegate. As for the sound, I also noticed a bit of "single coil like snap" when I first installed it, so that is a characteristic of the pickup. It bothered me at first, but I quickly got used to it and fell in love with the clarity and overall sound of the D Sonic. |
