SD Invaders in Korina?

Hello everybody, my newest predicament is trying to find a new bridge pickup to replace the god awful stock one in my Epiphone V. I've had my heart set on an Invader 7 but I hear that they're terrible in mahogany which, according to Warmoth , is very similar to korina tonewise. In all honesty I thought the guitar was mahogany until I just looked it up...

To give an idea of what I'm going for I play a Line 6 amp (Well I love it anyways) with a BBE Sonic Stomp (I find it contours the low end perfectly) and in my current band we play Death Metal ranging from old school stuff to far more technical newer stuff. I'm looking for a pickup that has some crunch and maintains some low end.

Any advice?

If you're using a Line 6 the woods won't really make a big difference, the Invader should be fine. Warmoth is right, the Invader is better suited in brighter guitars like alder, poplar, maple, etc.

Another option would be the DiMarzio Evolution 7, that's the perfect death metal pickup in terms of DiMarzios IMO. Really brutal mid-range but also great clarity, crunch, and balls.

If you want to go more high-end, you could look into Bare Knuckle Pickups as well.

Thanks for the advice Zimbloth, I probably should've figured as much about the digital amp haha. The Evo was probably my distant 2nd pick but I think I'll give myself some time to think this one over before I buy anything.

Evos sound awesome in Mahogany, I personally love them in alder too. It should be wonderful in Korina. It has a bit more snap to it than Mahogany, but still has that awesome woody sound. I almost decided to get 1 for my custom, but I opted to upgrade to BKPs instead.

Other pickups that might sound good are:
SD Custom 7 (possibly with a magnet swap to AlNiCo V according to Noodles)
SD Blackouts
DiMarzio X2N 7 (my recomendation if you don't go the Evo)
DiMarzio Drop Sonic
DiMarzio D Activator

I would totally go with the X2N7 , but I've already got one and I figured I may as well spread out alittle.

Sounds like I'll be looking at Evo's now, thanks very much you guys!

Hmmm, this makes me lean towards the Invader again... haha hopefully I'll figure this one out soon.

On a related note.. does anyone have a reccomendation for a nice and clean neck pickup (same guitar)? I'd really like one that sounds crisp when sweeping.

Sorry to dredge this thread back up, but due money/time issues I still haven't bought a bridge pickup for my Korina V yet...

I've gotta say I'm still very undecided, and I'm not big on swapping pickups in and out, not that the soldering is so bad, I just want to get it right the first time out, you know?

After some more pursuing DiMarzio D-Activators look some what up my alley, however I've never heard their 7 string equivalents. An Evo sounds good as well, but I've never heard one at all before, let alone in a death metal context. And the Invader is still a favorite, but after looking at some reviews on harmony central/musician's friend, I'm especially cautious about how they sound in korina.

Thanks for the advice so far everybody!
