I completely concur. I got a JB7 rewound to 80's JB specs by Wolfetone pickups, and it sounds amazing in mahogany. I've now come to realize how deficient the JB7 is, compared to what it should be.

Absolutely. To me, it is the only pickup for those guitars. The stock JB7 sounded a whole lot better in his alder guitar than in my mahogany one.
