DiMarzio Pickup Recommendation

I've decided that for the sake of variety I'm going to put a set of DiMarzios in my Schecter V-1 Plus, which is basswood with a maple top, maple/rosewood neck/fb.

SSH configuration...

What would you DiMarzio guys reccomend to me? In the bridge position I need a humbucker that is thick, grindy, and aggressive, in the neck and middle positions I need single coils with a smooth stratty sound and feel.

Norton (not Air Norton) in the bridge, Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues 2 in neck and middle

How about the Andy Timmons combo:

Breed Bridge, Dimarzio Cruiser neck and middle

The bridge gives a nice fat, aggressive sound, while the neck and middle still sound stratty.

While i dont usually recommend it, the super 3 sounds like it would really do well for you, or the evo2. the latter does really really well with alnico 8 in it too
umm, strats arent all that smooth in terms of pickups, but try the new virtual solo. i was going to recommend either a virtual vintage solo or virtual vintage solo pro, but it seems theyve both been combined into/replaced by the new virtual solo.

Thanks the the suggestions guys,

you all suggested very different sets! I'm not familiar with DiMarzios like I am Duncans so I really don't know what to expect from a certain pickup.

Max, maple boarded strats have a very glassy smooth tone, but you get get the "grit" out of them if you want to, that's what I'm talking about

Zepp, the solo on the song "Hail Thy Self" on my myspace page is my Fender YJM strat with a VV Heavy Blues 2 in the neck, if you're interested in hearing what it can sound like. it's also used on "Dark Friday Overture" as well...

So, I bought a Norton and two Cruisers and installed them.

So far I'm digging them

The guitar still needs some work, new bridge and a setup, so it's not 100% but it's certainly taken another step towards awesome

Did you get the Cruiser neck/middle or the bridge model? Timmons uses the bridge one in the neck and middle.

I have two neck models, it's all banjomikez had in stock at the time, I probably should have waited but whatever

You want the string to vibrate, that's a key component in how you get a great sound in my opinion. --zimbloth (completely out of context)
