Ok, got my EVO7's installed, but...

...I have a few questions.

While it most definitely has the djent quality right out of the box I'm having a couple of issues with it.

(I'm using this through both a podxt to computer setup and through my 5150II with similar results, no amount of dialing gets rid of the first two problems, the third is remedied pretty easily I guess through my rig)

- palm-mutes have a kind of fizziness on the top end that I really don't like. I'm not sure if anyone has heard Embodyment's "Embrace the Eternal" but that thick chunk is what I'm looking for.
- pinch harmonics are a bit harder to hit than before I changed the pickup
- the highs are a little too high for my taste

I have seen a few posts talking about adjusting pole pieces on the pickup. Is there any particular configurations I should try to remedy these problems? Does anyone think that would help?

Any help would be appreciated a lot...

If this doesn't work I may try exchanging for either a Blaze or D-activator if anyone thinks that might help.

for the highs being too high, you can always roll down your Tone control.

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
We'll cross the streams.

remember that you have to reset your setup when you get a new pickup. like, if you used to boost alot of highs and mids with a sucky stock pickup, and you get a pickup that already has that, then it´ll sound like crap. try new settings from the bottom up.

if not, you can always trade it for something else, as long as you´re in the US

i´d say try the D Activator next, if you can´t get your sound out of the Evo 7. i have the evo 7 myself, and i love it to death, because it does what i want. i can understand people not liking it though, that´s why there are many companies making many different pickups :P

as far as pinch harmonics, how close is your pup to the strings? i keep mine (including the ridicufuckoutput evo, evo2, and evo7) at about 1.9mm on the treble side, and about 2.6 or so on the bass side for the bridge, and adjust the neck pickup to balance.

For the highs, leon is right. try rolling your tone knob, even just a hair.

To counterbalance the fizzyness, try raising the poles on the bass side of the pickup. Theyre all adjustable with the little allen wrench that came with the pickup, just try raising those a mm or two on the bass 4 strigns

Reverse Headstocks or Bust

ALL HEIL THE ADMINISHREDDER!

i have to get around to doing that too, i want more OOMPH from the bass strings, and a cleaner sound from the treble ones.

also, i´d love to see a pickup design that has more gain on the lowest string, and then less and less gain as you go upwards. not a whole lot, just enough to let the higher strings be cleaner...
