![]() | RG 7620 pickup New 7 Custom what are specs? I've recently been informed that the old Ibanez 7 doesn't have Dimarzio Blaze pickups but rather something called New 7 or Custom. Does anyone know what the characteristics/specs of this pickup are in order to help me decide what to change it to. To me it sounds a little dull, perhaps scooped, and without a lot of harmonics. |

![]() | Thanks. I'm hoping that someone knows the specs because that's the only way to compare the manufacturer's descriptions of pickups. There all the same! |

![]() | is a perfect description. i just took one of the bridge models out of my 7620 and replaced it with an EVO7 and it was actually hotter than the evo in terms of DC resistance but the charter of it is very different. it was very flabby and loose compared to the evo. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | IIRC, the New7 bridge is based on the Dimarzio Super Distortion, and the neck is based on the Super-2. They're certainly a serious cut above the V7-7 and V8-7 from the 7420 in the neck, but there are also better options for basswood, IMO. The New7 neck actually has a bit of a following around here, to be fair. My hunch is that the New7's are the same pickups that were custom-wound for the CST, so I suspect they sound WAY better in mahogany. They are also described as being based off the same pickups that the new Dimarzio/IBZ pickups are too, for what it's worth. Theyre not BAD, but basswood isn't the best wood to make them shine. The Blazes are nice (I love the bridge), but the AN7 also rules in the neck. "...and everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon." |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I actually liked the new pickup. Its was nice and smooth but when I went to replace the bridge with the evo7, the output drop was too much. So it went. But the bridge one can be made a bit tighter by raising the poles a bit on the lower strings. "Drive slow to save gas, so that you have more money for GAS" -techjsteele |
